Healthy Brain Ageing:
Exploring the role of micronutrients for brain and immune health
Location: Shanghai
Time: Sept 17, 2025 (Wednesday) 9:00 - 12:00
Host: Haleon, Nature Custom Media
Between 2020 and 2030, the number of people globally aged 60 and above will increase by 40%, reaching 1.4 billion, according to the World Health Organization. While life expectancy has risen significantly in recent decades, healthspan — the number of years lived relatively free from disease — lags behind, because of ageing-related problems. Ageing is closely linked to declines in physical, cognitive and metabolic functions, affecting quality of life and escalating the need for healthcare. Recent research is exploring pathways connecting cognitive decline and immune system dysfunction, potentially opening up new opportunities for intervention. Important studies are probing possible mechanisms such as mitochondrial dysfunction, inflammatory responses and cellular repair responses. Recent studies are also exploring the potential of multivitamin/mineral supplementation to improve cognitive performance and immune resilience in ageing populations.
This half-day event will feature presentations by global experts in this field to share the latest findings in the possible mechanisms underlying brain ageing and immune decline, with a focus on preserving cognitive function and strengthening the resilience of the immune system. Discussions will look at what researchers are exploring in terms of interventions, such as potentially neuroprotective compounds and dietary interventions.
